Delightful Dining celebrates its 7th Anniversary with a special offer

Glen Ellyn - Delightful Dining, the first-of-its-kind dining club for single professionals in the western suburbs, celebrates its seventh anniversary in April with a special offer.

For the club's two dinner events in May, those who would like to try Delightful Dining one time may do so for a $7 guest fee, plus the cost of the event. The normal guest fee is $30.

On May 7th, Delightful Dining members and guests will celebrate Cinco de Mayo and dine at Las Palmas in Naperville; on May 21st, they will dine at 100 South Chop House and Grill in Elmhurst.

"Offering the reduced guest fee is my way of encouraging prospective members to give us a try as we celebrate our seventh anniversary," said Brooke McClurg, president of Delightful Dining. "I hope people will take advantage of this opportunity. I think they will like what they see. There's nothing else like Delightful Dining in the western suburbs."

Delightful Dining - founded on April 17, 1998, and for the last three years, run by McClurg - has created its unique niche by providing a friendly and informal forum to meet people, establish friendships and find romance while sampling area restaurants. Although most events are centered on dinners, there are other events from time to time, such as outings to the theater, Arlington Park Racetrack and an annual holiday dinner dance.

People feel comfortable coming to Delightful Dining for the first time because McClurg prepares place cards so that everyone has an assigned seat at the dinner table. This helps to relieve that awkward feeling that can sometimes occur when one is a newcomer to a group. She also places Delightful Dining's signature candy rose next to each setting to identify new members.

Most Delightful Dining members are in their 40s and 50s. The club is geared to those singles who consider bars, dating services and online venues to be unappealing. It's no surprise, then, that they gravitate to the hospitality offered by Delightful Dining.

"The people in Delightful Dining are friendly, down-to-earth and outgoing professionals who enjoy socializing but want to do so around like-minded people," McClurg said. "We enjoy people, which is why we are always happy to include new members."

The annual membership fee for Delightful Dining is $98. McClurg keeps members informed of upcoming events through a Web site (www.delightfuldining.com) and through a monthly newsletter.
